Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I very much enjoyed the US program excursions, and found the lectures and excursions themselves entertaining. Tanaka先生 is a very knowledgeable and fun to talk to, and it was nice to have an opportunity to talk to other English speakers.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The most productive part of class to me was definitely going over the grammar points and practicing them. The most interesting aspects were when the teachers would tell us information about the day if it was a holiday and allowed to learn some Japanese culture.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Alongside what I wrote in the previous question, I also enjoyed the 読解 reading. Sometimes there were words and phrases I didn’t know and it was good to understand those. And although I can’t say I enjoyed it, the 作文 definitely challenged me and I’m quite certain it has helped me be a better writer.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

I would say that you should definitely use the opportunity that you are in a language school to the fullest and try to ask as many questions as possible (consulting teacher after class). Also especially if this is your first time in Japan, you may not be as focused like I was because you wanted to experience the plethora of things to do in Japan. I would to definitely focus on studies to make the most of it. I regret not doing so, and intend to this next semester.

Testimonials

I love the full immersion and the difficult workload. Tests motivate me immensely, I enjoyed the vocabulary tests in particular.
