The summer short-term exclusive field trip to Yamanashi Prefecture was a lot of fun.

Lily from Summer Short-term 2025

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The summer short-term exclusive field trip to Yamanashita Prefecture was a lot of fun. I enjoyed learning about cultural spots in Japan with the guidance of my teachers and friends surrounding me.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The most productive and interesting aspects of the program were conversation and pronunciation practice that we did in class, because those are something that I never really got to experience outside of Japan. The least interesting and productive of the program was the repetitive Kanji practice. That is something I would have preferred to study on my own because it's something I don't need other people to teach me to learn.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Small group sessions and pair work were the most helpful for me because I am motivated by group work.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Make sure to actually study! Also, make sure you're simultaneously traveling and enjoying your time in Japan as well.

Testimonials

If you’re considering KCP, just sign up. If you have to, save up for it. It was worth it. I continue to learn the language, I continue to make new friends, I continue to find new, unfamiliar and exciting places and all of this was possible because I made the decision to learn at KCP. I have met some really great people (friends as well as teachers) who have helped me grow as a person. I’m thankful for this time I’ve spent here. It really has gone by too fast but I will forever remember the memories I’ve made here.
