Coolest Places to Visit in Tokyo

No matter how many times you’ve been to Tokyo, there’s always something new to discover. From trendy night spots, alleyways that seem to be frozen in time, shrines and temples, museums and lush parks and gardens. Tokyo is the place to find them all!

Shinjuku nightlife

Shinjuku gōruden-gai or Golden Gai is a small area famous for its six narrow alleys that are connected by even narrower passages. There are more than 200 tiny bars, clubs and eateries that dot the Golden Gai alleys are made up of private roads. Golden Gai is like revisiting the “golden era” of Shinjuku where rich artists used to hang out. Another place to discover in Shinjuku is Kabukicho. It is considered to be the notorious red-light district and probably the brightest part of Tokyo with all the flashing lights. But besides the bars, restaurants and blinding lights, as you go farther away into the back streets, there are many unique and undiscovered shops and tiny neighborhood bars that are perfect for a relaxing nightcap.Yanaka stairs

Yanaka Ginza is s short walk from Nippori Station or Sendagi Subway Station. It’s a shopping street with an old town atmosphere reminiscent of how Tokyo was like decades ago. The district exudes an air of nostalgia with distinct Japanese rustic charm. Ueno Park is also walking distance from Yanaka. Ueno Park once belonged to one of the largest and wealthiest temples during the Edo Period.  It was also a family temple of the then ruling Tokugawa clan.

Nintendo Store

There used to be only one official Nintendo store in the world in New York City in the U.S. Finally in 2019, Japan launched the first official store in the country, Nintendo, Tokyo. The Nintendo store in Japan is located at Shibuya PARCO, a newly renovates shopping complex. Pokemon Center Shibuya is also located in the complex!

The store offers a wide range of the latest Nintendo products including consoles, video games and Nintendo game character merchandise. Special events and interactive game demonstrations are also among the things to look forward to.Inokashira Park

Inokashira Park

Tokyo has many beautiful parks in the city such as Shinjuku Gyoen and Yoyogi Park. Inokashira Onshi Park is one of the largest parks in Tokyo with a vast space including a pond and a zoo. Inokashira Pond stretches from northwest to southeast and splits in two at the northwest end. The Kanda River flows from the southeast end where Inokashira-kōen Station, on the Keio Inokashira Line, which runs parallel to the Kanda River. Small paths and open spaces can be easily accessed by visitors where they can wander and explore.
