Q & A of KCP Teachers (Part 2)

Here’s part 2 of our question and answer posts about KCP teachers as they share their thoughts and experiences about the students, the program, and more. Read on!

What should we emphasize in order to improve foreign programs?

  • We need to provide the language education that students cannot get in their home country and give more opportunities for conversation and practical situations. These create opportunities to experience communities and cultures.
  • The attitude to respect other countries, languages, cultures, and traditions.
  • Become closer to each other by understanding other cultures.
  • Students may fail in many cases, and those experiences are inevitable, but we’ll need the system that supports students when they are having difficulties in their study and life.
  • Effective usage of the time outside of classes.
  • To help students get used to where they live and communicate more with the locals.
  • To put stress on experience that students cannot learn from books. Facing new challenges by themselves will fulfill their study abroad life more.
  • To unite language and cultural learning.
  • To revisit the norms and respect flexible thoughts and visions.
  • Know my students and improve their abilities.

  • We have various teachers, and our students get to expose themselves in the Japanese way of life.
  • Our students can learn Japanese in several different levels. This enables them to understand better about Japanese culture.
  • We do not just offer a typical language curriculum, but we help each individual student try to achieve their goals.
  • We provide a strong student support system on top of our Japanese language courses and extracurricular activities.
  • More hands-on teaching
  • We offer opportunities for not only language ability improvement but also club activities and events, weekend events, conversational classes with special Japanese guests, which help our students bond each other.

What is important for students to know before they start KCP?

  • Memorizing hiragana and katakana before the program starts will prevent you from delays in learning. Daily study is necessary since you’ll have classes every day and there’ll be lot of things to learn.
  • Teaching speed and its levels.
  • It is important to know Japanese economy and commodity price and that Japanese people are strict about time.
  • Basic manners and rules regarding school life.
  • KCP classes are tough.
  • Time management.
  • Habit to wake up early and study every day.
  • KCP students will improve their skills of listening, speaking, writing, and reading rapidly. Students enrolled in KCP will be impressed by their own rapid improvement of Japanese skills. But in order to achieve this, students have to be serious with studying as much as possible. We expect students to prepare to memorize and write hiragana and katakana (without any help).
  • Students should have the mindset of “When in Rome, do as Romans do”.
  • Japanese affairs, Tokyo affairs, KCP affairs.
