KCP Response and Updates on COVID-19

Please check this page often as we will constantly be updating it to address the evolving situations brought about by the COVID-19 crisis.

🔴 For Winter 2021 Students

You are strongly encouraged to apply for a student visa as soon as possible. We may defer your acceptance to a later time if border measures become even more stringent or if KCP makes schedule changes to uphold student safety.

If you’re a non-U.S. student, check with your local Japanese Consulate about the need for a visa.

For help understanding Japan’s visa policy, see Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

🔴 Eligibility and Visa Updates

Due to the current COVID crisis, Japan’s border enforcement measures are subject to constant change. The Japanese government is currently considering lifting the entry ban for business travel first, then for those with academic purposes once the crisis situation has settled. Therefore, we strongly advise new students to apply for the student visa.

Visit Passport and Visa for more details.

🔴 Refunds

All students will receive a 100% refund, less a $50 application processing fee, if they are not allowed into the country for their upcoming term or terms at KCP. This will be offered to students if their home college refuses to allow them to study abroad. $200 of the $250 Visa processing fee will also be refunded.

If the Japanese government shows no signs of lifting the entry ban in time for the students’ chosen term, we will make an announcement in advance so that students can make their decision to cancel their study abroad enrollment before the deadline.

This program has been awesome, and I learned a lot about Japanese language and culture within such a short period of time. The teachers are very patient and they try their best to encourage everyone’s participation by making the class fun. I would definitely recommend this school to other people who wants to go to Japan to study Japanese.
